StreetSmart Kids!

The StreetSmart team from RSA came to visit us in Newcastle just before Christmas. We had a big discussion on how to use to the road in a safe manner. Next, we watched short street scenes and we were able to pick out the safe and unsafe pedestrian behaviour. We then put all we had learned into practice when we got to spend some time in the 'village'. We all took on different roles such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. This really showed us how important it is to concentrate and take care on our roads. We were all delighted to get personalised safety licenses from Leona and Rachel for completing our road safety activities.

Odessa and Pádraig weren't able to see all the pedestrians behind their car from looking in the wing mirrors. We learned that drivers have 'blind spots' and cannot see everything behind the car.
